However the use of solid timber in these applications can be quite expensive (and in most cases a waste of a valuable resource) Due to the lightweight advantages of Balsa, the total cost of supply and installation is greatly reduced compared to using solid timber (no need to structurally engineer the ceiling to take the weight of timber).
